2026/08/16 - Bodhisatva vows of two different lineage were bestowed
On the 1st day of the month of Drozhin, the vows of aspiring and engaged bodhichitta were bestowed together according to the profound view lineage tradition. On the 2nd day, the vows of aspiring bodhichitta were taken in accordance with the vast conduct tradition, originating from Maitreya and Asanga, following the preparatory, main, and concluding sections of the ceremony. On the 3rd day, the vows of engaged bodhichitta were taken through the preparatory, main, and concluding sections, following the teachings of the Jamgon "Ceremony of Taking the Bodhisattva Vows and the Path of the Bodhisattva." On this very day, the 4th, in the early morning, detailed teachings were given on the general precepts of bodhichitta, and in particular, on the four root downfalls, the forty-six secondary downfalls, and other points of discipline, as stated in the "Twenty Verses" and the "Bodhisattva Grounds." Furthermore, citing from the "Prayer of Maitreya," the benefits of bodhichitta, as explained in the "Arrangement of the Tree" and the "Sutra Requested by Paljin," were expounded in detail. Thus, the vows of aspiring and engaged bodhichitta, originating from the two chariot traditions, were successfully completed with gratitude and appreciation.
